Review:
K-Bobs is a national chain of family steakhouses and, as such, the intention is that you can go to any of them, order the same meal, and have it taste the same way anywhere you go. Well, with Socorros K-Bobs, I certainly hope this isnt true.
When we used to live at the Loma Vista Apartments, K-Bobs opening a block behind us was a good thing. When we didnt feel like making dinner or hopping in the car, we could just walk down the street and get dinner or lunch. The food and service were good, and it would be the place to go for inexpensive steak or shrimp.
In the years that followed, however, the quality of K-Bobs quickly fell off. The salad bar was kept up, the Friday buffet would just sit until it would start to smell, and the steak was
unearthly.
At one dinner with Jarrod, after waiting over and hour for dinner, we finally got our meals. All of them were pretty bad. I thought my gristle-burger was awful until he gave me a piece of his steak. The outside looked like your typical steak-dinner, but inside it was a bright and unnatural red; not bloody or rare, but like the bright Tempura paints we would use in school! The texture of the meat was strange, too. It looked like someone had frozen a piece of meat and then broken it in half, however this was cooked, and it tasted terrible, too. My first thought was that it had been frozen and thawed several times before it had been cooked and served.
After that, we stopped dining there. A couple of times I would go with friends who insisted on eating there, and each time it was either a disaster or a just a disappointment.
Recently, it has gone through a change of management, although I havent been back since. Pretty much, I cant drive past the place without thinking of the taste of expired meat.
Quite simply, in my opinion, if this place is an embarrasment to the K-Bob's franchise (assuming that this isn't true of the rest of their restaurants these days).
