Review:
This restaurant in Nob Hill is easy to find at night. It has a nice bright sign, and when you miss it and have to turn at the next block, it actually works out. They have a huge parking lot that can be accessed from all compass directions. When you walk in, there is a bar immediately in front of you. The dining area is reminiscent of a Mediterranean cafe with tables and chairs - yay! No booths. We're certainly not in Denny's. The menu is large and has a combination of Greek and Middle Eastern Food.
The service was excellent. The waiter knew the perfect balance between friendly banter and professional service and had us laughing a time or two. He had excellent recommendations for appetizers and dessert. I'm sure he would have given us his opinion for the entree as well, but we had already decided. He also never once tried to hurry us out when we had obviously finished and were just enjoying talking.
The food was... really good. I am so tired of restaurants that are afraid to put flavor other than chile in their dishes. We ordered pitas and hummus for an appetizer. It was really good, very garlicky, which I like. I had the Mediterranean Linguine and it was a mouthwatering delight. It was a good balance of color and flavor without looking like your mom's goulash. My dinner partner chose the spinach fettuccine and was very appreciative of it as well. For dessert I had Tierra Misu. Very decadent without being so rich you needed insulin afterwards. My date had blueberry bread pudding. He liked it, but I noticed he didn't finish.
I was a little amused that our waiter offered margaritas to go with it, but I was perfectly fine with that. I like them, and it didn't take away from the flavor of the meal at all. I also recommend their coffee. It was strong and rich and was an excellent balance to the palate of dessert.
Overall, I really enjoyed the restaurant. I would recommend this for a date or evening out rather than a drop-in dining experience. And, if you're planning on eating there on a weekend night, call ahead for a reservation.
